Frequently Asked Questions

What is a custom song?

Exactly that. Every aspect of the song is cutom-made just for you, by a real human.

The chords, the melody, the lyrics — it’s all one-of-a-kind. No template, no AI, no set menu.

You provide the info: the occasion, names, places, special little details, any styles or artists you like. I sit down and create something special with it.

What do I actually get?

For £100 you get one totally unique custom song, made just the way you like it. It will be recorded to a high standard in my home studio and delivered to you by email as audio files (mp3 and wav) plus a pdf of the lyrics.

For £125 you get all that plus a hand-signed CD copy and a hand-singed lyric sheet printed on fancy archival paper. A great little gift bundle.

Can’t i just use aI to make a song for free?

Well, sure.

My son could use AI to draw me a picture of a dinosaur. But that’s not the one I’d stick up on the fridge.

I’m interested in telling real-life stories. With all their quirks and details. All the heart, the weird, the unexpected.

I want a song that does your story justice. And I think it takes a human to do that.

How does ordering work?

Once you place your order, you’ll be directed to a form page. There’s a super easy form to fill in. You’ll give me all the important details that make your song special.

In about a week I get back with an initial version, and you have a chance to feed back.

You can get in touch with any questions.

The final version will be yours within two weeks of ordering.

Why £100?

Honestly, it was a nice round number.

But also because I want to make it possible for people to have a truly special, one-of-a-kind song.

Many ‘custom song’ platforms online charge a lot more, and a lot of that money goes straight to the platform rather than the songwriter.

I wanted a price that’s fair for you, without a big company taking their cut first.

Who are you?

I’m Adam Kirkup, a musician, songwriter and songwriting coach living in the UK.

I’ve been featured on official Spotify playlists, was a BBC Introducing Track of the Year, and have worked with artists like Kimya Dawson and WWE legend Mick Foley.

My work has been described as “spellbinding” (Mary Spender), “pure poetry” (BBC Introducing) and “masterfully crafted” (Pulitzer-winning writer David Hanners).

I love a good story, and I love bringing yours to life in a song.

Can I do whatever I want with the song?

You’re free to do anything you like with the song — apart from making money off it.

So you can use it at your event, your birthday, whatever. You can put it in YouTube videos and share it on social. You can send it to all your friends, burn it to CDs, put it on your phone, send it into space…

You just can’t sell it as your own work, or upload it as your own and make a profit.
